This presentation introduces a simple technique for supporting a person to connect with their body again. This might be needed after a code red meltdown or anywhere on the FABIC Behaviour/ Anxiety Scale that is higher than code blue or green.

Poster 35: Stop, breathe, squeeze, communicate, skills

When a person goes to code red, orange or yellow on the FABIC Behaviour/Anxiety Scale, it is important to offer an opportunity to de-escalate and communicate what took their body higher than blue in a way that is preferred and wanted rather than using their previous non-preferred or unwanted behaviour.

Skills building is only possible when the body is relatively settled and the original part of life the person found challenging can be addressed.
