FABIC Poster Collection Discussion Groups – Session 32 – The game of bullying

Presented by Tanya R Curtis, Senior Behaviour Specialist
POSTER 50: The game of bullying

It is important to understand what is really going on when it comes to bullying behaviour, for the person using it and the person or people who are at the receiving end of it. As the saying goes, it takes two to tango and all parties involved and especially those targeted can either collude or choose to stop the game of bullying. After all, when one party stops reacting and refuses to play the game any longer, the whole charade collapses and there is then no willing target.

Senior Behaviour Specialist Tanya Curtis is an expert on bullying behaviour and shares her experience and the tools needed to put an end to this game. She has inspired untold many to achieve settlement and ease and know that bullying is not normal and does not need to be part of our life.

LEARN THE SCIENCE BEHIND EACH OF THE 53 FABIC POSTERS
The science of the who, what, where, when, why and how of every FABIC poster is discussed, supporting successful implementation in a person’s natural settings and thus maximising opportunities for LASTING behaviour change.

Each one of the 53 FABIC posters is a standalone behavioural intervention. It may look like a simple two-dimensional poster, but in reality it comes with a science founded on the FABIC principles of understanding and bringing LASTING behaviour change. To integrate them successfully it is important to understand the science.

To support the successful use and integration of these posters in a person’s natural setting/s – their intended use – a client and/or their support team require an understanding of why and how to implement the posters, daily and practically.
And this requires an explanation of the science and practicalities that support successful behaviour change strategies via the introduction of the FABIC Posters.

We have put together 34 online meetings to cover every single poster that is part of the FABIC Poster Collection.

Each meeting Tanya will present one or more posters and the science and steps for their practical and effective application, so that attendees can support the integration in a natural setting and offer understanding and behaviour change.

Participants can ask questions and offer sharings about each poster. Each session will be recorded and made available to attendees as well as be available for purchase.

Note: While it is not essential for attendees to have a hard copy of the posters, it is recommended for maximisation.

Posters can be purchased individually or as a complete collection at fabic.com.au/shop

Suitable for any person ready to use the FABIC posters to support lasting behaviour change, whether that be for professional and/or informal support or personal use.

Online via Zoom on Thursday mornings at 5am (AEST) QLD Time.

Poster 48: Intended vs interpreted messages

The message a person intends to send is called the intended message and the message received is the interpreted message. And when they differ, it can come to misunderstandings if not reactions and disharmony. And it is not just the words that count, because behaviours, thoughts and feelings are equally as important.

According to Senior Behaviour Specialist Tanya Curtis, clarification of messages received is an underutilised skill which can go a long way to making every interaction a light and joy-full occasion.

Poster 49: Why is there bullying behaviour?

Bullying behaviour has been on the rise everywhere, from our homes to schoolyards and workplaces. The factors that contribute to it are avoiding responsibility for the behaviour, blaming others for being a victim and not being in control plus not feeling equipped to respond to the life lesson presented.

In this presentation, Tanya Curtis gives equal importance to the part that the person targeted by the behaviour plays. When it comes to deflecting bullying behaviour, the tools are zero reaction, living responsibility, claiming oneself and bringing understanding. Life cannot be controlled, but we can all learn skills that support us to be settled in life.
